Faculty Module #1: Importance of Global Competence for CTE Programs

Today’s students will graduate into an increasingly interconnected world. One in ten Americans is foreign-born, and local communities—whether urban, suburban, or rural—are becoming more diverse. To capitalize on global market opportunities, companies seek employees who possess the knowledge and skills to work across cultures. Consequently, faculty in career and technical education (CTE) pathways must prepare their students to compete, connect, and cooperate on an international scale to secure jobs and advance in their careers. This module will provide a rationale for incorporating global competence in postsecondary CTE and introduce effective methods to establish these connections.
